Voice

AI voice agents for SMEs

Voice is the highest risk and highest reward surface in a small business. Get the guardrails right and it answers every call at three in the morning.

The short answer

AI voice agents work best on high volume, predictable calls: answering out of hours, qualifying inbound enquiries, booking and confirming appointments, and chasing no shows. They struggle with complaints, complex negotiation and anything requiring judgement about a person's circumstances, which is why every deployment needs a fast, obvious route to a human.

Frequently asked questions

Do callers have to be told they are speaking to an AI?
We disclose by default. It is the safer position under UK and US practice, it reduces complaints, and in our experience it does not reduce completion rates on routine calls.
What does an AI voice agent cost to run?
Cost is driven by minutes, not seats: telephony plus model usage per minute, plus the monthly operation fee. We agree a spend ceiling before launch so a bad week cannot produce a surprise invoice.
Which calls should stay human?
Complaints, cancellations with a retention angle, anything involving vulnerability, and any negotiation. We build those as explicit transfer triggers rather than hoping the model declines.
Can it book straight into our calendar?
Yes. Booking, rescheduling and confirmation against your existing calendar or scheduling system is the most common first deployment.
